Valentina González Pecchi, Ph.D.

Valentina Gonzalez-Pecchi is an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator at Universidad Catolica de la Santisima Concepcion (UCSC), in Concepcion, Chile. She obtained her PhD in Cancer Biology from Emory University in 2019. She joined the faculty of UCSC on 2021, awarded the grant “Programa de Subvención de Instalación en la Academia” from ANID (Agencia Nacional de Investigacion y Desarrollo). Her work focusses on signaling pathways in cancer. Specifically, she is working on MYC oncogene, and how an epigenetic modulator, NSD3S controls MYC function. She is currently actively participating on training undergraduate and graduate students in Chile, as well as teaching. She also has received awards recognizing her work on cancer, such as the William and Catherine Rice Award in 2018.
