Michael Finley

Michael Finley is a Senior Principal Scientist and cell-based assay development team leader at Janssen R & D.  Michael has worked in small molecule drug discovery for over 15 years in a range of therapeutic areas, including neuroscience, immunology, oncology and cardiometabolic disease for several large pharmaceutical companies, including Wyeth, Merck and Johnson & Johnson.  He earned a B.S. in Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University in 1993 and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied in vitro neuronal differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells.  From 1998 to 2002, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University with Richard Scheller and Dan Madison, exploring the machinery of synaptic vesicle fusion in hippocampal neurons.  He has been a member of ICBS since its inception and has enjoyed the international focus and the interaction of academia and industry that the community supports.
