Danielle Skropeta is an Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Wollongong, Australia, as well as Director of the Undergraduate Pre-Medical Program. She received her PhD from the Australian National University in bioorganic chemistry followed by postdoctoral positions at the University of Trento, Italy, in marine natural products; University of Konstanz, Germany, in carbohydrate chemistry; the University of Sydney in peptide synthesis; and the Heart Research Institute, Australia, on glycosylation in lipid metabolism. She currently leads a glycochemistry group with diverse interests ranging from development of anti-metastatic glycosyltransferase inhibitors and carbohydrate-based cancer imaging agents, to the investigation of marine polysaccharides in locally farmed seaweed for wound healing applications, as well using underwater robotics to explore the ocean floor at 200-1000 m depth for new chemistry and chemical biology.
